Have you ever had someone try to be youer than you? I’m talking about identity theft. I have not had problems myself (thank goodness) with identity theft but my Mom has. She had someone rack up a hefty bill on her credit card. With online everything these days it has become all too common for people to hack accounts and go on a spending spree at your expense. Daddy B and I are very careful where and how we shop online. We keep the computers up to date with security software, shred bills, etc. that have personal account information on them, never ever giving out our social security numbers. Now I have taken my identity protection even farther and got a identity theft protection membership with LifeLock.
With LifeLock you can compare and choose from 3 different identity theft protection plans- LifeLock, LifeLock Ultimate or LifeLock Credit Score Manager. The LifeLock identity theft protection is a proactive defense system to help keep our personal information safe. The LifeLock plan includes:
- Alerts of potential threats–both credit and noncredit related
- Online access to a personalized dashboard showing current threats
- Relentless monitoring for exposure of your personal information
- Member services with local phone support—24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year
- Stolen or lost wallet remediation services to help cancel and replace credit and debit cards
- Comprehensive recovery services if you become a victim of identity theft on our watch.
LifeLock and its 5 points of protection doesn’t just keep an eye on your credit score or send out alerts when our personal information is being used but they will do what they can to help if we do fall victim to identity theft while being a LifeLock member. LifeLock will even spend up to $1 million to hire experts, lawyers, investigators, consultants and whoever else it takes to help with the recovery of an identity theft.
Signing up with LifeLock is a fairly quick and simple process. Once enrollment is completed, your identity is protected. Within 48 hours you will receive a welcome email explaining all your LifeLock member benefits. With LifeLock there are no spam phone calls or emails. Whenever they detect a threat to your identity, LifeLock will alert you by e-mail, phone or text message — meaning you will hear from them only when necessary. Then each month you will be sent an account summary email, detailing the health of your identity. You can view your alerts anytime by signing in to your secure online member portal. I have found that it is easy to keep track of alerts by bookmarking (and checking) my LifeLock online member portal. Another part of the LifeLock plan that I like is that they reduce my pre approved credit offers. That means they request your name be removed from pre-approved credit card offer mailing lists. This reduces the possibility of someone dumpster diving and rifling through your mail and stealing your personal information.
LifeLock will also keep you up-to-date with the latest e-newsletter and notify you of current scams and breaches so you can help protect your family and friends. You can find out even more about LifeLock, the LifeLock plans and what they can tell you about identity theft by visiting LifeLock.com. You can also find LifeLock on twitter and you can like the LifeLock Facebook page. Thanks to LifeLock one of you Mama Bee Does readers will be able to know that no one is youer than you (meaning you know your identity is yours and only yours) by using a LifeLock proactive identity theft protection plan membership.

I am a massage therapist and have a lawyer for a client who recently went through this. Luckily, he had a good working knowledge of the laws and was able to work through it quicker than most people, but it still took months before everything was correct again.
My husband’s ex wife stole his identity a few years ago and when he talked to the sheriff, they dismissed the charges because she only “used his name and social secutiry number” to register for our insurance information. She had not “stolen” anything from him…
My mother had someone opened up credit at a dept store in california and we live in north carolina

I personally haven’t had someone steal my identity, but we have had someone trying to take out a hardship loan against my husband’s pension account 4x since August of this year. We called the personal dept. each time, but they don’t seem to be too worried about it, (while we pray that the perps don’t get lucky & withdrawl any $$$$, as we will be the ones who have to repay the fraudulant loan).
